Guadalajara Travel Guide
Guadalajara is a city of elegance and the perfect place to enjoy the many of facets of Mexico all in one place. There are museums, parks, historical buildings and markets where you see a little bit of what makes this city so great. It is also a place where mariachi music plays a big part in the history of the city.

The large sombreros, the elegant decorations either embroidered or decked with "botonadura" (metal pieces that adorn the sides of the pants and/or sleeves and jacket) and a band of five or more instruments are all part of a serenade by a group that is so representative of the culture.
In a festival that combines elegance, mastery and challenge, men display extraordinary grace and dexterity as they perform stunts and tricks of the Mexican cowboy art of "charreria".

An art that is seen more here than in most other parts of the country, charreria recalls a certain romanticism of the Mexican people, even in present day and though hardly anyone owns an actual sombrero nowadays, you can be sure that they identify with the image of a charro, the Mexican cowboy.

Tequila is possibly the best-known Mexican export abroad. From a town of the same name, it is impossible to talk of Guadalajara without thinking of this popular beverage since the town is a little under an hour away. A visit to Guadalajara would be incomplete without a sip or two of this famous drink and a bottle or more to take as souvenirs.
